"Validation failed: Mesh contains no faces" error

Hi,

one of my client is using assimp.org to import models.

when trying to import a big obj model (50M faces) exported with texture from metashape, his system is throwing this error : "Validation failed: Mesh contains no faces"

I had the same issue with 3 models.

do you know where it could come from and how i could fix this ?

Does it happen only for the large models? If the same operation is applied to the smaller model (100,000 - 500,000 polygons), does the further import to external application work properly?

Yes indeed, i haved decimated the 50 000 000 faces model to 10 000 000 faces and it's working fine.

i'm trying with a bigger one (20M) now.

Do you know where it can come from ?

Hello cyrilp,

As it is not yet clear, if the issue is related to Metashape, I would suggest to check related issues reported on assimp GitHub page, for example:
https://github.com/assimp/assimp/issues/2903

If the same large mesh can be imported back to Metashape properly or can be successfully imported to some other 3D viewing applications, like Blender, for example, MeshLab or ZBrush, then I would say that the problem is on the other side.
