Help Improving smooth white object models
« on: February 24, 2021, 09:40:28 PM »
Good afternoon all,

I have been working with this software for the past few months and finally have shooting an object on a turntable down.  Now, a new challenge has developed.  I am now shooting an object that is about 2ft tall and 1ft wide,  the object is 90% smooth and white.  (Images below).

The issue I am having is that no matter the lighting or background the model still populates with major areas missing.  I have tried a green screen, void background, and a solid white background, adding talcum powder to the object witch fixed a bit of the hole issue but still no real improvement.   I have also tried fully masking the 200 images set with no luck.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

From the pictures you posted i see that the most part of the surface is a bit shiny and it lacks distinct features on the surface because it is all white.

Because of the uniform color around the object there are not many features for the program to reconstruct the object correctly.

You can find many info in the internet on how you can "prepare" your object prior to shooting. I'll give 2 links with some info to start.

I hope these will help.
