Hi,

is there a way to find the best texture size to get the best quality but not more than needed ?

This is a simple calculation, here is an example:

If you have a texture size of 4096 * 4096 pixels and want a texture accuracy of 1 pixel = 1mm, you cover 4096 * 4096 mm2, that is divided by 1000000 (mm2 in m2) = 16.7 m2.

You get the information about the surface from Metashape, you can choose the size and number of textures yourself.

This is a simple calculation, here is an example:

Unfortunately, the texture parameterization doesn't fill up the texture pages completely and there is unused space. Also sometimes texture charts are upscaled (or downscaled) when applied to the certain mesh regions, so this approach can give only some approximation.

In case the project requires certain texture resolution (m/pix), I would suggest to consider using tiled model generation instead of single block mesh model.
