Multiple Masks Per Photo
« on: June 14, 2013, 01:00:59 AM »
When using a turntable setup I have found some objects need to be clamped or turned multiple different ways so you can see the whole object. I have sometimes found it useful to use first do a "rough" mask out clamps and tables during the alignment, and then after alignment I will refine the mask out everything I do not want later in the geometry or the texture.

I think it would be helpful to have an option to hide/unhide masks or to duplicate a mask. Then you could select which mask was to be used for processing in that chunk. I imagine you could treat each mask as an image as place it as a sub-image within each "camera". I think this would fit well within the Workspace hierarchy. Then you could just right click on which mask you wanted visible. This would also help for just experimenting with different ways to mask your object without just resetting the whole mask.

It may be cumbersome switching which mask you want but maybe someone else has some other ideas on how to make this better.

It had occurred to me also that this could be useful sometimes.

Think I had probably aligned some photos with mask constraint, and then modified the masks for the purposes of texture generation, then realised i needed to align the photos again for some reason.

I guess the export/import mask options would allow this to be achieved? I haven't used them much i must admit.

I agree, it would be great to be able to have specific masks for specific workflow steps and also be able to activate and deactivate images for specific workflow steps without having to import or export masks.
