Worse depth maps in 1.7 release
« on: May 19, 2021, 02:48:33 PM »
Hello !

We are carrying on our test of 1.7 release but now struggling to understand differences between depth maps comparing with the same project calculated in 1.5 release.

Looking at following capture, the depth maps are really worse on the right (1.7) than on the left (1.5).
We are using aggressive filtering in both process.

Has anything changed about this step of the process ?

Regards

Hello Yoann,

It would be helpful, if you could share the sample dataset - source images and projects with the generated depth maps from 1.5 and 1.7 versions, to support@agisoft.com.

Hello,

I just have sent the data.

Here is another exemple of final clouds we got.
Note that after Metashape process, we apply a density filter on our cloud. The result who comes from 1.7 release is really less dense so it is much more filtered.

Note that dense maps generation is largely longer in 1.7(.3) release (~ 2300 sec) than in 1.5 one (~ 800 sec).

Hello Yoann,

As for the processing time, we would need the log at least from 1.7.3 version related to the depth maps generation.

Regarding the dense cloud on the screenshot that has a lot of holes, it seems that the project is different from the one that you have shared. can you share the problematic project as well?
Also please check, if you observe any difference in respect of presence of such large holes, if Mild filtering option is used.

If you are using any tweaks related to the depth maps or dense cloud, please also name them and assigned values.

Hello Alexey,

Thanks for your feedback.
Truthfully, lots of problems have been fixed in 1.7.3 release.

I will come back with new data in anything similar is noticed again.
