Camera coordinates and alignment
« on: July 01, 2021, 03:45:09 PM »
Hi.

I have a question regarding the alignment of the images:

I have a drone here with a thermal sensor which produces relatively small (640x500) and not very sharp images, but want to be able to create orthomosaics with it. After fiddling aroud a bit (use of a good pseudocolor, sharpening) I manage to align the images around 60-90% in a few tests. The images have no coordinates however, and I was wondering if the alignment algorithm makes use of the camera coordinates at all, and if they could improve the alignment and especially the amount of images that can be aligned?

So far I also tried to optimize the camera alignment, which greatly improves he overall alignment, but unfortunately has no effect on the amount of aligned photos.

Hello big_M,

If there are no (or almost no) tie points detected on some images from the set, the presence of the camera location coordinates wouldn't help to match/align such images.

Oh, this is unfortunate.

Thank you
