Mixed focal lengths
« on: August 17, 2021, 05:05:52 PM »
Hi - we're looking at mixing two different models of camera in a rig, and are wondering whether it's possible to align the images in the normal way even though there will be two very different sets of intrinsics involved. I can see that the calibration format supports up to one set of intrinsics per camera, but I'm sure I've seen in the past MetaShape try and create a "one-size-fits-all" camera model. Do we need to put the different classes of camera in different groups perhaps?

Hello MikePelton,

Via Tools Menu -> Camera Calibration dialog you can split the calibration groups or check, if it has been done automatically, based on the image dimensions, camera/lens type and some EXIF information.

If you are planning to use fixed camera rig with synchronized cameras and utilize Multi-camera System concept, then master and slave sensors in the rig would be automatically split into individual calibration groups.
