Difference in exported orthophoto vs generated texture
« on: July 30, 2013, 04:18:15 PM »
I made my texture using the sphereical mapping mode and then proceeded to export using mosaic. When I look at the model in photoscan the texture looks nice, fitting the subjects nicely, but when I export the orthophoto there is bleeding of texture. Why is this? Is it a bug or is it not possible to export texture using spherical mapping mode?

Hello Kjellis85,

You can export texture using Tools Menu -> Export texture.
But please note that spherical texture mapping mode was designed for sphere-like objects, like human head, for example.

The problem you are observing is probably caused by some deviations of the model surface from projection plane used in the Export Orthophoto dialog.

I was perhaps a bit unclear in the last post, what I want is an exported ortophoto with the same texture quality as the model shows in photoscan.

Is there any options in the export orthophoto dialogue that will enable me to produce a similar looking result as the one I can see in the model when viewed from above?

The reason I chose spherical is because these rocks do protrude somewhat from the surface, like a head would do.

Hello Kjellis85,

Export orthophoto feature projects the images on the plane, whereas shperical mapping mode produces another type of parametrization (you can see the texture atlas using Tools -> View Mesh UVs).

It looks like you actually do not need an orthophoto but a high resolution screenshot or rendering?

Yes, for this test I only need a high res "screen-shot" of the model, but this is limited to the resolution of my computer, yes? Or is there a way to get a high res rendering of my model output as a jpg or tif?
