.obj imports with 0 faces
« on: June 13, 2011, 11:44:36 PM »
I downloaded the current version today.  I've found that any mesh I import as .obj results in an object with 0 faces.  This includes models that I've exported from Photoscan as .obj and tried to import back in, unchanged.  If I convert it to .ply it will work.

Ian, I'm experiencing the exact same bug.  I assume it's an OSX thing. I emailed dimitry about it, hopefully they issue a solution soon.

I'm using photoscan for the same reason, and was so excited about getting a properly UV'd model back into photoscan.

It's not an OSX thing, since I'm running it in Win7 64bit.

can we go back to an older version of the software somehow? I don't have any installers for older versions of the standard edition, only pro-trial..

Also confirm 0 faces after importing .obj. Originally thought that it may of been related to the CG package I use for editing, but tried importing .obj's from Maya and Lightwave10.

Thank you for reporting the problem.

We were able to reproduce it, and I think it would be fixed in the next update.

Has this issue been resolved?

I am using 0.9.1 build 1714 and all imported .obj or .ply meshes still show zero faces.

Hello Jeff,

It should be fixed two years ago. Could you please send us any sample mesh in .ply or .obj format that will help us to reproduce the problem (support@agisoft.ru)?

Hello Alexey,

I've installed 1.0.0 and now the .ply mesh is working on import, only the .obj mesh is not working properly. I sent you both meshes as requested.

Thanks!

Jeff

Hello Jeff,

Are you sure that .obj file contain any polygons? I've opened it with MeshLab and can see only vertices.

Hello Alexey,

Yes, you are correct. The .obj I sent you only contained the vertices. My apologies!

Using  version 1.0.0  build 1780 I have tried both .ply and .obj models (with faces :) and they are both working correctly. Problem solved.
