Point cloud import from laser scaner error
« on: August 25, 2021, 02:22:39 PM »
Hi,
I tried to insert a point cloud from the Cyclone Register 360 software for the first time, but unfortunately the road entered me over half the planet Earth :D. I will probably get the error during the export. Can someone please advise me where the error is and how to fix it?
Thank you very much
Michal

Hello Michal,

I could assume that the coordinate system selection in the Import Points dialog was incorrect.

Usually, the default option suggested in the dialog on import corresponds to the coordinate system information recorded in the point cloud file.

Hello Alexey,
Thank you for answer.
I exported the point cloud in the local coordinate system. When I imported it into Agisoft into the WGS 84 coordinate system, it turned out as shown on picture.
When I imported the same data into the local coordinate system and inserted photos from the drone, Agisoft reports an error: Unsupported datum transformation.
Best Regards
Michal

Hello Michal,

If the chunk is georeferenced in WGS84, you cannot import the point cloud referenced in Local Coordinate system, as there's no conversion between Geographic coordinates to some local Cartesian coordinate system.

Please try to create a new empty chunk, leave it's coordinate system as Local Coordinates and then import the point cloud to that chunk.

Hello Alexey,
Thank you for the advice. I have already managed to import the point cloud into local coordinates. Now I wanted to combine this model with photos from the drone according to the instructions in this article: https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000151726-how-to-import-external-point-cloud-e-g-lidar-to-metashape

After I mark a few marks in the model and in the photos and click on "Update Transform" , Agisoft reports me: "Not enough reference data",
When I select Align photos it doesn't match me point cloud with photos, see picture...
Do you think I have marked too few markers or will there be an error elsewhere?
Best regards
Michal

Hello Michal,

Does it help, if you check on in the Reference pane all the markers that you have placed over the imported point cloud and press Update button then?
