1.7.4 Update not recognising floating licence
« on: August 31, 2021, 05:01:02 PM »
Hello,

I've just updated to 1.7.4 and my lic file is no longer being recognised i.e. asking for license code etc etc on opening. It was working fine for my previous version 1.7.xx (I can't remember but think 1.7.1 ish). I'm connecting using a VPN, using MacOS with lic file in the MacOS folder.

Any thoughts or fixes? A colleague has had the same issue with a windows machine. I tried installing 1.6.6 as available in the downloads but it says the install is damaged, so I'm pretty stuck...

Cheers,
Pia

Hello Pia,

Although we were not able to reproduce the problem on our side, I can suggest to update license server version to RLM 14 please find the links below:
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-rlm-server_v14.1BL3_x64.zip                                        Win 64
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-rlm-server_v14.1BL3_x86.zip                                        Win 32
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-rlm-server_v14.1BL3.tar.gz                                           macOS
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-rlm-server_v14.1BL3_amd64.tar.gz                              Linux

You do not need to perform the re-activation or the licenses, you can just unpack the archive to another directory, stop current license server, then copy all .lic files from the old server folder to the new server directory and start it. Check that the license files are recognized and floating licenses are in the pool on the server side. Then check if the new version solves the issue for the macOS clients with MetashapePro 1.7.4 installed (server.lic or agisoft_LICENSE environment variable is still required though).

If it works, please check the following article, as for RLM 14 some additional files may be required to access all the options in the license server web-interface:

Thanks Alexey. Unfortunately our IT team are hesitant about upgrading the server at the start of the semester, with many older working versions..

Is there any way I can force Metashape to find our lic file? Or are there any slight nuances in the order of download and install that I could have accidentally missed?

Best wishes,
Pia

Hello Pia,

You can create agisoft_LICENSE in port@address format (for example, 5053@192.168.10.11) or alternatively create license file (text file with .lic extension) in the following format:
HOST <server-address> any <rlm-port>
For example:
HOST 192.168.10.11 any 5053

Thanks Alexey.

Our lic file format is photoscan.lic.xxx 1234 is that style of formatting now out-dated? I changed to "HOST photoscan.lic.xxx any 1234" and that didn't make any difference...

Hello Pia,

Where is that .lic file stored? On macOS it should be either put to the contents of the application bundle:
MetashapePro.app/Contents/MacOS/
or to the following directory:
/Library/Application Support/Agisoft/Metashape Pro/

Also please check, if you can "ping" the server machine from the client's side using RLM and ISV ports.

Hi Alexey,

Sorry for the delay, I've been on leave.

I've tried putting it in both locations, neither have worked. I've checked and I can "ping" the server machine from my mac, with no issues.

Cheers,
Pia
