Space mouse in Agisoft Metashape

I just received my 3DConnexion space mouse, and it works well in many applications, like 3DConnexion Viewer, Cloud Compare, Solidworks, Blender, MeshMixer, etc. However, it didn't work well with Metashape. It did work, but not the way you expected. I've searched the forum, but related topics are at least a few months old. Does anyone have any good solutions?

By the way, I am using Agisoft Metashape Professional 1.7.3, and 3Dconnexion Spacemouse Compact.

Hello eric423,

Such device should work out-of-the-box in Metashape:
- connect device via USB,
- start Metashape,
- enable HID-compliant controller option in Navigation Preferences tab, click Apply button,
- select SpaceMouse option in the Controller section,
- click OK and use 3D controller in the Model view.

You can also update to Metashape 1.7.5 before trying these steps.

Thanks for your reply.

The mouse did work, the problem is the behavior, if you try it in other 3D model viewers, you'll understand what I meant.

For example, when I 'spin' the mouse, I expect the model to 'spin', but the model 'rolls' in Metashape.

If other 3D model viewers all behave differently, I won't complain about this. The problem is, all other software have the similar behavior.

Hey Bo, has this ever been solved for you?
I have exactly the same problem. The axis of the space mouse respond weird.
I had an old "Space Navigator", everything worked flawlessly with that controller.
Now I have the Space Mouse and have these same problems:
- rolling instead of rotating
- zooming instead of rise/lower viewport

are there any news on this topic? I am about to buy Metashape Professional, but not as long as the Spacemouse from 3D Connexion does not work correctly.
The axis seem to be mixed. Moreover if the mouse is connected to Metashape, it is not available in any other appplication.

I am using a Macbook Pro with M1Pro, and the Spacemouse works properly in many other applications.

I have just started using my (original) Sapcemouse again, and it works perfectly for me. I did have to change the settings in Metashape to get it to work on the correct axis. This was simply a case of inverting all the axis in Metashape.

I tried inverting all axis, with no sucess.
The problem is not the direction of axis, it's the axis being swapped.

examples using attached screenshot:
- (Pan Up/Down ) now zooms in/out instead to pan up/down
- (Zoom In/Out) now pans up/down instead to zoom in/out

- (Spin)  now rolls the map instead to "yaw around Y axis"
- (Roll) now spins (yaw around Y axis) the map instead to roll

working:
- (Pan right/left) works
- (Tilt) works

I am using latest Metashape and 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse compact

I can officially confirm, that the problem is fixed in Metashape 2.0.3!
SpaceMouse is back behaving normal, like in old versions.
