Camera Calibration for DJI P1
« on: November 17, 2021, 11:42:11 PM »
I am a bit confused about camera calibrations. Should I be running a camera (or lens) calibration on my DJI P1 before processing images? In a photogrammetry course I took a while ago, I took checkerboard images with my phone camera and used those to calibrate the camera but I don't really know how that would apply with my P1.

Thanks,

Ben

If you use several photos, the calibration is recalculated each time.
But this also depends on the photo variance.
If I take more than 100 photos (and I always do), no extra calibration is needed

Thanks Ben.  Ive just started using a P1 with 35mm lens and have noticed that even after Ive run PPK that my images are a fair distance off my GCP which worries me.  Can someone please advise what I should be doing to correct this.  Im told that DJI P1 cameras are not calibrated and the manual dosent really cover this aspect.  How should this calibration be done please?

Hello paul,

the best way to calibrate the P1 would be to fly a calibration field with some 10-15 GCPs. From this fligt you should get good calibration values for your next projects....

You can PM for more details....

Maybe you can show the errors on your GCPS after optimizing your PPK project...
