Can we make a series of photos by getting closer?

I saw a tutorial. It says that it is possible to take pictures of an object by getting closer in order to recover the textures of the object even more precisely.

I tried to do it with an object: I took a series of photos, then another closer, then another closer.

The alignment of the photos worked on Metashape.

When I want to build the point cloud, it crashes?


Is it because it is not possible?
