Image masking for chunk alignment
« on: March 01, 2022, 07:13:39 PM »
Hello,

I am scanning human eyes in various poses for research purposes using Metashape pro for Windows.

I want to align the raw meshes to isolate the deformations between each pose for a same participant.
When using Metashape's alignChunks from 40 000 points, the scans are aligned according to the chin rest device because the points are denser in these areas.
Since the participants might move a bit during the capture session, the alignment is wrong.

Is it possible to define a mask in image space to exclude areas for the chunk alignment process ?
Here I attached a photo of mine and an ideal mask I would like to use for alignment.

Regards,

Glenn

Update :

I made a fixed mask for all of my cameras. As a result, the scanned surfaces are bounded to what I am interested in.
The scans can then be aligned with "align chunks" or with custom alignment algorithm such as ICP.
