I have used the quick_layout python script for aligning water and forest areas where auto align doesn’t work, usually prior to building the DEM and ortho. Is it ok to use it with not aligned RTK cameras prior to building the dense cloud? Working on a large project with some forestry and would like the images included in the dense cloud.

Hello Rory,

Usually not aligned cameras have too few tie points with the cameras from the aligned set, therefore even after using the quick-layout script they would be ignored in depth maps generation process (due to insufficient number of valid tie points). So in most cases it doesn't matter, if you apply the script before building the dense cloud or after, as the cameras "aligned" by the script wouldn't have any effect on the depth maps and dense cloud generation process.

Thanks Alexey. Does the DEM still need to be built using the extrapolated option?

Hello Rory,

When enabled interpolation is used, the resulting DEM will be cropped based on the camera visibility area. So if you have positioned NA cameras using the script enabled interpolation should use them as well, so Extrapolated option is not obligatory.
