Hi there,
I'm quite fascinated by the possibility to export DEMs to different transformations. While the "WGS84" and the "UTM33N" export for DEMs works quite well for my UAV projects, the desired "MGI GK Central" always exports everything within the bounding box, also the invalid parts where Photoscan is only blurry in "Shaded" mode and black in "Texture" Mode.

Can anybody help me here?
I tried checking and unchecking the "crop invalid dem" (obviously) and set different regions for the export.

The problem is, if I wanted to calculate volumes and differences in ArcGIS I would need only the valid parts of the DEM and not the softened parts at the edges.

Thank you

Hello Gerald,

Do you mean that DEMs exported from the same project file in different coordinate systems produces different output (not only referencing difference, but also the area of export)?

Yes, that's exactly, what happens. And not only in 1 project, but in all 7 projects of the same area. As I mentioned, it happens with the transformation "MGI/ Austria GK Central (EPSG: 31255)", which is unfortunately the one I would need...  :P

I posted the geotiff files (in a 5m resolution) below. One shows the boundaries of the bounding box, although the valid model itself is quite irregular in shape... The second one is the same model exported in WGS84.

Hi again, in the meantime I found a solution (but not a satisfying reason) for my problem.
If I convert all my marker positions and camera positions (which are initially in WGS84) in the GroundControl to the "MGI\Austria GK Central" system and export DEM and Orthophoto, it works perfectly.
The problem only seems to be, when your coordinate system is set to WGS84 and you change the coordinate system only in the export window. Strangely this problem does not affect the export to UTM33N.

But I'm totally satisfied with my solution, this is just a minor problem if it can be avoided by changing the coordinate system in the first place.

Thanks

Hello Gerald,

Thank you for reporting, we were able to reproduce the problem with MGI GK Central. Hopefully, the fix will be included into the next update.
