Processing Report Camera Locations
« on: March 18, 2022, 10:40:19 PM »
Hello,

I am seeking clarification on the Camera Locations section of the Agisoft Metashape Processing Report. Is there any documentation on how to interpret different parts of the Processing Report?

My theory is that the Camera Locations are based on the EXIF data on the images. Does this seem correct? For reference, I am using a DJI Phantom 4 Pro.

I have included a screenshot of the Camera Locations page as well as the GCP page.

Hi,

the camera errors shown in Camera Locations section represent the RMS of difference between camera input coordinates (Exif or csv imported) and estimated coordinates (after alignmentéoptimization). From the magnitude of these errors, it seems the GCP Z is geoid corrected height while camera Z input is elipsoidal.
The black dot inside colored error ellipses on locations  map represents camera estimated position...

Hope this is clearer,

Hi Paulo,

Thank you for the reply. Do I need to be worried about my final product if my GCP Z is geoid corrected and camera Z is ellipsoidal? I'm under the impression that once I align photos with GCPs the EXIF data is no longer used.

Hi ksunglieng,

no worry if your GCPs coordinates are precise then final adjusted or estimeted cordinates will be  fitted to the GCPs and height of your products will be in the height system of your GCPS which seem to be geoid corrected or orthometric (referenced to Mean Sea Level) ...
