Generic - its try detect PAIR from photos and match "stereo" results say image 1 and 2, then image 3 and 4.....

Disabled - its try pair all images, say image one is aligned with all 99 images

For GIS application is with enough overlap best if use Generic Pairs ( but when have GPS info and GCPs then GROUND Control is better ) for things like statues and other complicated stuff is the Disabled pairs better.... depend on project, but when dealing a lot ( 100-200+ ) of images its faster to use image pairs....

Thanks for the info Wishgranter.

It might be good to have another option similar to generic, but rather than select 1and 2, then 3 and 4 to select 1 and 2, then 2 and 3, etc.

Hello bisenberger,

Generic pre-selection at first tries to find overlapping images using downscaled copies of original image and then to match only overlapping images. The example, used by Wishgranter doesn't mean Generic preselection will work always as described. That means that photo X will be matching with photo Y only (because they are overlapping) and not with every image in the set.

I guess generic preselection gives in most cases best result, allthough it might consume more  time and RAM. Right folks?
