Adding local VD to coordinate system
« on: April 05, 2022, 12:05:30 AM »
Good morning,

How can I add a local VD to a defined coordinate system? There are 13 local vertical datums across NZ (we should be using NZVD16 across the nation but the local councils are slow to adopt). I want to add Moturiki 1953 EPSG:5764 to Mount Eden 2000 local circuit. The option is there under the edit coordinate system options but unfortunately it doesn't work....

Any help appreciated

Blake

Hi AllPro,

to be able to configure your local VD, you need a file specifying the geoid height for this datum. In case of Moturiki 1953 I downloaded a file  containing a points grid with delta value (geoid height) from LINZ in geopackage  format.

In GM, I created a grid from these point features and exported as GeoTiff. Then you can just follow https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000148332-how-to-use-height-above-geoid-for-the-coordinate-system to create your compound CS...

You can always PM me for more details...
