unexpected behavior exporting model

I'm running into something strange exporting models to STL.

I get the usual "save file as" dialog, but when I enter a name and hit "save," the dialog says it can't find the file ("no items match your search") rather than bringing up the usual further box with options for the export.

Sometimes restarting seems to help, but usually it doesn't (so any patterns there may be coincidence). This occurs no matter what output type I try, and using both the file>export model . . . and right click>export model paths.

Any idea what's going on? I'm on pro, 1.7.5 build 13229, in case that's relevant.

Which OS version you are using? Is there any difference in behavior, if you type in the file extension in addition to its name?
