Script fails to create depth maps, errors out
« on: May 31, 2022, 03:31:20 PM »
I am relatively new to scripting in agisoft/python api. Ultimately I'm trying to loop through multiple projects to create a dense cloud from each of them. My script, as its written, keeps failing at the depth maps step. I've tried breaking it out of the loop and it still fails at the same point. I've been through a number of forum post on the topic based on the error and can't seem to figure this one out. I'm using Agisoft Metashape version (1.8.1):
Code: [Select]

.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here is a snippet of the console where it ends.

Hello Bolli,

I suggest to try version 1.8.3 (or 1.8.4 pre-release) and also check, that there are no backup, synchronization or similar services, that are indexing and accessing the files in V:/projects/ folder contents.

In case drive V: is a mounted network drive, please also check, if using common network paths allows to avoid the problem (for example: //STORAGE/projects/).
Best regards,

Hi Alexey and all,
I wanted to bring this issue back up. The script that this was apart of seems to work fine when it works. But occasionally It'll fail in the middle of the depth maps creation (or point matching in alignment stage) with the "Can't replace file or Directory" error (Figure 1). I navigate to the referenced file path and the file is not present (Figure 2). I'm just wondering what would cause this, Metashape or the file system being unstable?

Hello Bolli,

If you are working with the network drives, I can suggest to use UNC paths instead of virtual/mounted drives letters. In case the external drive is used, make sure that it wouldn't disconnect unexpectedly during the process.

Also I can recommend to check that there are no backup/synchronization services running (such as DropBox, OneDrive, GoogleDrive and similar) that are reading Metashape project files folder contents.
