"ruler bars" showing coordinates in model and point cloud view

I was just trying to figure out what extent to export for a rapid assessment project, and I had an idea I have to share.

It would be really cool if I could turn on/off a horizontal and vertical "ruler" that showed coordinates in whatever system I was in (including local coordinates). I picture it as just a thin white border on the model window that would have numbers and hatches - basically labeled X  Y  Z axis.

Not sure what the best implementation would be - maybe make the axes change borders depending on model rotation? My inspiration was much clearer when I was looking down on the model thinking only in X/Y axis. Then I realized there's a z axis too and that makes things a little more complicated...
