Hello Matt,

Metashape Pro 2.0 is using a new activation system and would not be compatible with the license activation made in 1.x versions (this includes the floating licenses activated via RLM). New floating licensing server utility will be available in January. Meanwhile, if you are interested in version 2.0 evaluation, you can use trial licenses. For the trial license extension you can contact our support team (support@agisoft.com).

Is there any update on when the new Floating license utility will be out?

This may seem like a minimal thing to look for, but the change of "Build Dense Cloud" to "Build Point Cloud" is fine, but now the order in the Workflow dropdown is out of order it seems and can be confusing. it is nice to have the workflow items in order of common workflow process order. Now Build Point Cloud is below Build Tiled Model.

We are planning to release new utility for the floating license server in about two weeks. The floating license activation instruction will be updated in the Knowledge Base.

Dear smiller,
Thank you for your feedback.

Usually, when building a model and a tiled model, users can skip building a point cloud and use depth maps as source data. Users who need a point cloud as a result usually process aerial data, after that they build DTM/DSM, Orthomosaic. Therefore, the workflow is divided into such sections and the order of commands has been changed.

I know this is off topic but could you consider having the workflow be buttons on the interface, rather than in a menu?

Hi Alexey,

Any updates regarding the floating license transfer from Metashape 1.8.x to 2.0.x?

My group is also looking for an update with the new floating license utility. We're trying to integrate using nodes on an HPC cluster as part of our processing workflow, but we need the floating licenses back to do this properly.

Hello everyone,

We are in finalizing floating license server for Metashape 2.0 together with Metashape 2.0.1 release.

New floating license server can be downloaded already using the following links:
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-license-server_1_0_0_x64.zip                Windows 64 bit
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-license-server_1_0_0_x86.zip                Windows 32 bit
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-license-server_1_0_0_mac.tar.gz             macOS
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.agisoft.com/agisoft-license-server_1_0_0_amd64.tar.gz           Linux

But please note that the offline procedure currently doesn't work as described on the activation page of the license server, the self-service page for offline activation on our web-site will be available tomorrow or a day after tomorrow, but online activation should work.

Agisoft License Server (provided above) allows to serve floating licenses to Metashape Pro 2.0.0 and newer.

After downloading and unpackig the archive, run Agisoft FLS on the computer that is intended to be used as a Floating License Server in the network in the following format (port 5842 is default for the license server):
Code: [Select]
agisoft-fls --host server-ip:portfor example:
Code: [Select]
agisoft-fls --host 192.168.10.200:5842
Then open the web-interface of the license server in the Internet browser http://server-ip:5842 (for example: http://192.168.10.200:5842). Create login and password for the new user account and click Login button.

After that go to Licenses page, click on Activate button and on the next page input the floaitng license activation key and count number for the licenses to be activated. FLS key (that was necessary to the RLM server) is not required anymore.

Alexey, I think I got the server set up properly, but my client still isn't connecting. Is this new version still using the format of a server.lic file in the install directory with 'HOST $HOSTNAME any $PORT' inside?

Hello ethanpayne,

Old .lic file for the client wouldn't work with the new license server.

There are two options now:

1. create AGISOFT_FLS environment variable in serverIP:port format on the client's side,

2. (would work for Metashape Pro starting from 2.0.1) create .lic file in the following format on the client's side and put it to Metashape Pro installation directory:
Code: [Select]
[license_server]
host = <serverIP>
port = <port_number>

For example:
Code: [Select]
[license_server]
host = 192.168.200.10
port = 5842

Awesome, thank you! Could you please add this information to the knowledgebase article as well? The article makes no mention of this new .lic format as far as I can tell.

hello, Alexey

Can't use "host name" in current Windows version agisoft-fls?

If start with "agisoft-fls.exe --host HOSTNAME", cannot connect even if you specify hostname in the client .lic.
Also, I cannot access the web interface at http://hostname:5842 from other machines

If DHCP is used, the IP address of the server may change and it is useful to be able to use host names.

Also, if I start with no --host specified (localhost), it appears that I cannot specify an IP in the client .lic to get a licence.
This means that I must now always specify the IP with --host.
