Build Tiled Model VS Build Mesh and texture

I have a project and my final result is a 3d model is slpk format, If I use the procedure below:
1.   Align Images
2.   Use Markers
3.   Optimize images
4.   Build Tiled Model based on depth maps
5.   Export the slpk model
Will I end up with a 3d model? Or is =it better to build a mesh then a texture then the tiled model then export the slpk?
What is the different between the two procedures?
