Output Orthophoto - edges of the buildings are not sharp
« on: November 07, 2022, 11:19:00 AM »
Hi all,

I tried to build an orthophoto using the procedure below (Align Images, building mesh from depthmaps, texture and then generate the orthophoto, but unfortunatly the edges of the buildings are not sharp and not precise (Attached screen shoot), Is their a way to solve the issue? or do I need to follow different procedure?

P.s: The row images is less than two cm, and Ultra high mode is used

Hello Majdoleen,

to get a perfect true ortofoto, you will probably need to collect break lines along building edges or do a lot of dense cloud editing. If you do not need to do true orto, then you can build dense cloud, classify ground points and then build Dem using only the ground points. Then building Orto from DTM will give you clean building edges although not orto rectified (ie. with building lean)...

Hope that this can give you some help,

Thank you, Your answer is highly appreciate, I will try your suggestion, and hop it will work, a true ortho is not required, orthophoto with clean buildings edge is more wanted.

Hi Paulo,

I tried to use the DTM, but unfortunately ended with un accepted results, because -non of the buildings appear on one images, since it is an old area and all the houses is very closed to each other, and in this case I couldn't edit the seamlines, Is their a way to edit the true ortho with a good edge sharp.

Best

Halo Majdoleen,

in this case, you can try Refine seamlines option in Build Ortho stage. Then you will still probably need to edit some seamlines using patches as buildings are all stuck together. Draw a polygon around a problem seamline area and with right button context menu Assign Images... you can select which image to use in this patch or multiple...

Try it and I am sure you will get better results...

PS. what area are u surveying?

Thank you Paulo,

I tried the Regine Seamlines, but unfortunately I got the seam results, I returned back to the true option, I already edited the seams line to remove the moving objects, but couldn't get more sharps results.

The area is around 70 donums for a small village, 2 cm GSD.

Majdoleen,

you would then need to do a lot of seamline editing, using patches in case you are using DTM based ortho...

Please can youe explain what is a donum?

PS. Wilkipedia gave me the answer
Quote

Hi Paulo,

I used Mesh based Ortho.

The donum is a unit to measure the area, 1 donum is = 0.1 hectare = 1000 metersquare. the total area in my case is 7 hectars
