Mission planning and 3rd party flying apps
« on: January 02, 2022, 09:09:58 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm new to mission planning with metashape.

For a project I'm gonna have to cover multiple 25 hectares square tiles with huge elevation changes.

For now i'v been using dronedeploy as my flight planning and automated fly app.

As I understand, dronedeploy is not compatible with DEM import (for elevation changes safety) and flight paths import (from metashape mission planning).

So I tried litchi but the 99 waypoints limit is a real bummer. If i tried to do one 25 hectares tile with litchi it would mean doing something like 20 missions...

So I'm looking for an app that can "override" the 99 waypoints limit in a way that i would not have to launch one 99 waypoints mission after another...

Does this exists? does UgCS does that?

Thanks a lot guys

Hello Dukytony,

Mission planner feature in Metashape is designed for image acquisition of the structure with the complex shape (mostly we have been thinking about buildings), so if you are interested in common nadir aerial survey, you might need to consider a different mission planning application focused on such types of the surveys.

As for the 99 waypoint limitation, the latest version of Metashape generates now the single mission plan (camera track) which can be split into parts with the user-defined waypoint number upon export.

UgCS does limit on 99 waypoints per polygon, too. But you can define multiple polygons per mission, so that shouldn't be a big deal.

How can we confirm the Agisoft Mission Planning app sets the UAS heading in the correct orientation? I have pulled my KML into Litchi and the heading of each point is not focused on the POI.
