Pleiades jp2 images
« on: September 05, 2013, 12:26:33 PM »
Hello,

I'm trying to test Pleiades satellites images (panchro 0.5m) in jp2 format which is not recognized by default. These images are very big (~700Mb) in this compressed format.

What would be better to user such images in Photoscan? Convert to another format would lead to even bigger file, and clipping images is not recommended as I read.

Hello Jules,

PhotoScan can process only frame imagery (spherical equirectangular panoramas are also supported by Professional edition), so in case Pleiades operates in push-broom mode you won't be able to get correct results.

Anyway, large files are not the problem for PhotoScan providing that sufficient amount of RAM is available and 64-bit OS is used.

Thanks Alexey for the information, even if it's bad news as it's indeed a pushbroom image.

regards,
