Import Video - Drone location metadata
« on: January 13, 2023, 06:41:05 PM »
Hello,
DJI drone are embedding the position data as subtitles, would be interesting to use this data (even if not super accurate) to speed-up the alignment

You can. With subtitles enabled DJI saves a separate SRT file that holds the location and gimbal orientation metadata. If you have this SRT file in the same folder as the video when Metashape imports, then it'll take advantage of it.

Hello, with Mavic Mini 1 subtitles are embedded in the .mp4, see attached image. I don't have external SRT files.

Hello tazzo,

Please share an example of short video with embed meta data, that we can use for internal purposes to analyze the possibility of implementation for the requested feature.
You can send the video or download link to support@agisoft.com.

Hello tazzo,

Thank you for sharing the sample video file.

I have tried to import it to Metashape via Import Video command and it appears to be working as expected - loaded coordinates for the extracted frames appear in the Source values section of the Reference pane.
Tried it both in 1.8.5 pre-release and in 2.0.0 release versions.

If you are not observing the same behavior, please specify Metashape Pro version that you are using.

Could Agisoft support please give a comprehensive reference as to which geospatial video metadata standards are currently supported?

There is no such reference in the manual and I read in the forum about SRT and some other standard tags that may be supported, but which are not named.

STANAG KLV Metadata support would be a great fetaure and work well along with the adaptive frame extraction feature.
Many thanks!
