How to add password on floating license server
« on: May 12, 2023, 12:35:46 PM »
Hi,
I've a floating license server and I need to add password to it because I'm on a shared network so anybody can checkout my license if they have my server ip and port. In order to prevent this what can be done?

Hello aniket,

Do you mean RLM server for versions 1.8 and older or new Agisoft FLS for Metashape 2.0 and higher?

Hello aniket,

Please check the following article:
https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000153555-which-rlm-server-version-can-be-used-for-the-floating-license-option

It describes that rlm.pw file should be created in the license server directory with the list of users (it is recommended to create users without passwords first), then the license server should be re-started and created accounts should be used to log in to the license server web-interface and create/change the password, as it is stored in rlm.pw in the encrypted form.

This article is for adding password on RLM dashboard webpage. I meant the licenses should have a password to authenticate. For example if we use PPU license we have a license file that contains hostname, port and password. Similarly I need to have a password for my floating license server.
