Ruler Greyed out after importing point cloud
« on: June 26, 2023, 01:03:56 AM »
Hi,
I created a blank metashape project and set the coordinate system to that of some point cloud data I need to import. I imported the two lidar point clouds using their know co-ordinate system. They import correctly. I "merge" them into one point cloud, again this works well.

But even though the co-ordinate system is set, the Ruler is still greyed out and I can't measure anything? This indicates to me that Metashape doesn't know a scale but I think it should because the co-ordinate system is set?

Could someone make a suggestion as to how I can get the Measure tool working?

See markup attached for snapshot

Thanks
Ben

Hello Ben,

What version of Metashape you are using?

I have tried to import external georeferenced point cloud to the latest 2.0.2 version (selected corresponding coordinate system in the Import Point Cloud dialog) - and it automatically assigns coordinate system to the chunk and allows measurements using Ruler and Profile calculation tools.

Hi Alexey,

Thanks very much for your reply.

I was previously using v2.0.0 which was giving me the ruler issue.

I downloaded and installed v2.0.2 build 16404. This fixed the issue. The ruler now works.

Thanks again

Kind regards,
Ben
