Allign camera pictures to laserscan data
« on: February 15, 2021, 04:11:34 PM »
Hello,

I´m working on a project where I´m supposed to build a 3D-Model of a castle.
So far I built a 3D-model of the outside based on UAV-pictures and of the inside based on scanning data. So far everything is fine. In the next step I want to take pictures of the inside to improve the texture of it.
Now I´m thinking that it might be a problem to get those pictures in the right position. Is there a way to do this in Agisoft?

Thanks for your help

Hello Regon,

Are the subsets related to exterior and interior completely isolated, i.e. no overlapping areas between them?

There are 2 entries where both point clouds overlap so it wouldn´t be a problem to align the interior pointcloud to the exterior cloud

Hello Regon,

You can align the photos from the drone or handheld camera with the laser scanner positions based on the spherical panoramas (or intensity maps). This approach requires to start the processing from the very beginning, unless you have the key points saved in the project.

Another option is to align the photos in the separate chunk, then create manual tie points (markers) in both chunks related to the same actual world points, align the new chunk to the existing one with the 3D model (marker based approach), merge chunks and generate the texture.

Hi,

Photographs from laser scans can be aligned via placing markers, with other photographs from drone or handheld camera.

The marker placement in panoramic photographs from scans should be placed in intensity maps panoramas or in coloured panoramas?
There is a difference in the position of the marker between the intensity maps panoramic images and coloured spherical panoramic images.
