P. oint Cloud Red Bounding Box
« on: September 08, 2023, 09:21:43 PM »
I have dug through the threads and haven't found the answer to my question.  How do I rotate the red point cloud bounding box?  I am working with photogrammetry from a camera on a pole.  It does not contain any x,y,z data.  Help!  Thanks in advance!!

I am not sure anyone knows what you are referring to.  Can't say I've ever seen a red bounding box.  Assuming you mean region, it has always been pale grey in my projects.  If it is the region you are referring to, you can rotate it with the 'rotate region' option on the button panel - or, from the menu, Model>transform Region> Rotate Region.  Hope this helps.

Hello Bloomberg,

Starting from the version 2.0 additional bounding box related to the point cloud is shown. Mainly it is introduced for the visual convenience for cases of the external point cloud (laser scanning data) import, where multiple point clouds are common.

In the Model view there are 2 Regions visible around the point cloud. The red color indicates the Point cloud Bounding box. The green color indicates general bounding box for this chunk.

In Metashape available to change the color for it (Tools > Preferences > Appearance tab). You can also left-click on the Workspace pane (for example, click on the name of the chunk) and the red bounding box will not be visible in the Model view. If you double-click on point cloud, it will appear again.

On the screenshot the red box corresponds to the import point cloud bounds and green bounding box represents the chunk's region (working volume).

Alexey can you make the point cloud bounding box the same orientation as the general bounding box?  The point cloud bounding box is rotated and causing my export to be the wrong orientation.  I am trying to manually set the orientation the point cloud bounding box to be the same as the general bounding box so that I can export.  HELP!  :)

Hello Bloomberg,

Do you work with the georeferenced projects? What export parameters you are using and how the point cloud bounding box orientation (shown only for the convenience) does affect the export results?
