The crashing started recently within the last month or so, and the only way I could get it to stop crashing on any Alignment was to change the CPU Over Temperature Protection setting in the BIOS to 90 degrees C (as suggested by 3dMB). I do have a Corsair iCUE 150i CPU cooler, which I thought would have been enough to keep it cool, but it doesn't appear to be enough in this case. Here is my configuration information, but it looks like it may be an issue with my i9-13900KS processor with the Gigabyte board:
Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard
Intel i9-13900KS CPU
G-skill 128 GB DDR5 RAM
MSI Suprim GeForce RTX 4090 (liquid cooled)
Built it in January 2024 and hadn't had any issues during machine learning development or gaming. The only issue I've had is recently when processing within Metashape. Apparently the temperature was reaching 100 degrees C and being stopped as a safeguard, as I learned by watching the temp profile during Metashape alignment processes. Thank you for all the help in this thread. Tells me what to avoid in the future.
