Changing the Point of Rotation?
« on: December 22, 2014, 06:57:41 PM »
Hi All,
Please excuse this newbie Photoscan question, but I just finished making a reconstruction of a popcorn ball-like rock in Photoscan Pro. The model was created very succesfully and accurately, however, I would like to change the point of rotation to be the center of the rock, not some point away from it, to make easier viewing. I essentially want the rock fixed in space, while being able to move and view its entire geometry. Is this at all possible in Photoscan Pro? Any help is greatly appreciated, and thank you!

Hi GeoKatan,

I'm not sure if it is really that simple:  click with the right mouse button, hold and move until your object is in the center of rotation. That just should do it in the Agisoft viewer window.

Otherwise if that is not what you are after and you want to really put your object nearly in its center of rotation place some (three) markers on it with suitable values (plus/minus around zero). As far as I know there is no function to do it exactly in PhotoScan but I'm not an user of the Pro version so maybe I'm wrong.

Right click the point you want to be the center of rotation.
Choose "Center view".

The model will start rotating about that point.

Or even faster, just simply do a double-click... it will adjust the rotation point to that position you clicked.
