Hi there,
For my research, I need to analyze color variations on stalactites and stalagmites (see photo as an example). To do this, I need to somehow unfold or project the 3D models I created, the problem being that they are roughly cylindrical but conical at the top, making it difficult to effectively unroll the object.
What's important basically is to get the whole texture on a 2D plane in a raster format, so I can analyse the spatial variations using a GIS software. The raster's shape doesn't matter much.
Does anyone know how to do this and with which software? Please note that I am very new at 3D modelling, so a simple way to do it would be highly appreciated
Thank you for your help!
