Seamline Enhancement
« on: January 08, 2024, 04:36:10 PM »
Hello,

I am working with a dataset of trees that are planted in rows, where the seamlines are often found on top of the tree rows. This causes the trees to appear inconsistently, e.g. seen from different perspectives. See photo attached, the white thing is a hail net seen from above. My question is:

1. Is it possible to influence the way seamlines are generated (apart from Refine Seamlines) that is not a manual fix, i.e. - not assigning different images to the orthomosaic.

2. What exactly is the purpose of the refine seamlines parameter? what does it do?

Best,

Stéphane

Hello Stéphane,

Refine seamlines feature has been designed to work with cases when classic orthomosaic (not True orthomosaic) is generated based on the DTM or similar surface (flat, smoothed) that does not follow real shape of the actual surface geometry. So the feature may help in your case, if you are generating the orthomosaic using DTM of mesh that has been smoothed with the high power value.

But what kind of solution you think could work? Are you able to fix the artifacts in the desired way using manual patching?
In case it is not possible to get the expected results even with manual patching, it could mean that the whole image acquisition process should be revised, for example, using higher altitude to take images or positioning camera for shot exactly above the net lines that are broken in the current approach.
