DEM Fill Tool
« on: April 06, 2024, 06:40:52 PM »
Referencing this article  (https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000164388-dem-editing-tools),  I get different behavior.

1. Draw Polygon
2. Open context menu and select DEM > Fill
3. The polygon fills with RED.

I must be missing a simple step to get the behavior illustrated in the article?

Thanks,
Dave

Hello David.

I think the fill method is reason...You are filling the poky with constant where value is high (81 m) ... if you use other  metod (best fit, ...) you will get different results..

Hi Paul.

Trying other parameters doesn't seem to make a difference in this case, unfortunately.

Strange Dave,

can you print the shape vertex coordinates? And what is shapes crs? same as dem CRS?

DEM and the polygon both state WGS84.  The shape vertices seem appropriate.

It seems to be some form of mask.  I get the same behavior with a breakline.   If I turn off the display of shapes, the red masks remain.

If I change FILL parameter values, you can see that the surface is changing under the mask.  So, the FILL function is probably working.  But for some reason, this RED MASK is also generated over the shape.

Here is a screen recording:

Dave,

seems to be some sort of bug. In constant interpolation if you use pick button and click a point just outside the red mask, the value should update and give better results...

Yes.  It looks like that one option will work.

Hello Dave,

We are currently working on fixes in DEM editing tools behavior and few are to come in the next version update, however, we were not able yet to reproduce the fill issue, when by default you get the value larger than max DEM value.

If you are working in Metashape Pro 2.1.1, maybe then you can share a sample project, where this issue can be reproduced: PSX project file that includes camera alignment results, DEM and drawn shapes.
