Problem when photoscan is making the mesh
« on: October 14, 2013, 04:48:32 PM »
Hello boys!
I am generating a model 3D of the front of a church and when the program has already detected the points and it has already reconstructed the depth, for in 10 % of the mesh and in a pair of hours an error warns me about absence of memory

In other 3D models it still has not happened to me...

What can I do?
Thanks.

Hello Korens,

First of all please check that you are using 64-bit version of PhotoScan (it could be checked in the Help Menu -> About PhotoScan dialog).

If it's 64-bit then please provide some additional details regarding your project:
- number and resolution of images,
- reconstruction method selected (quality and geometry/object type).

Please also check that Bounding Box is shrink to the area of interest using Resize Region and Rotate Region tools. If possible please provide the copy of log information from the Console pane after the memory problem occurs.

Yes, i use 64bits version and it's all right
I'm using 107 images at 6016x4000 (2 MB/photo)

Hello Korens,

Thanks for the information.

According to approximate memory consumption peaks (http://www.agisoft.ru/wiki/PhotoScan/Tips_and_Tricks#Memory_Requirements) such dataset will require 6-18 GB RAM. What amount of memory is available on your current computer?

We also recommend to use latest release (0.9.1) for processing, since there were some optimizations included. If you have depth maps saved in your project you can proceed to mesh generation straight away using "Reuse depth maps" option. If you still have memory problem in the newer version, please copy console output that appears during the operation.

I have 6 gb of RAM in my computer now
I'm using the 0.8.3 BETA Build 1224
Do not use the newest version because it gave me even more problems

Then you should probably run reconstruction with Low quality setting and check the memory peaks in Task Manager. I don't remember the consumption in 0.8.3.

Generating mesh...
Grid size: 4413 x 4413 x 4413
Tree depth: 13
117641175 points extracted
Error: bad allocation
Finished processing in 23514.5 sec (exit code -1)
>>>

This is the error :(

Hello Korens,

Have you tried it on Low? Because 6 GB RAM seems to be not sufficient even in the latest versions.

Yeah, but when I make a 3D that contains less photos I can work in middle, high, and extra...

Memory consumption depend on the number of images used, you can disable every second (or every third) image in your set and try the processing, however, you should be confident that the sufficient overlap is provided even with smaller dataset.
