Optimisation question

When I run optimise on my sparse point cloud, what is the difference between having the images enabled and disabled?

Also, what is k4 and should I have that selected?

Hello airmap3d,

before running optimze-step note the outer and inner orientation values of the disabled cameras. Run optimize-step and check if the values changed. If not, theres is no difference between enabled and disabled cameras. When I have blurred pictures I always remove them to be sure that they have no influence on my result.

I saw Alexey and Dmitry on the INTERGEO in Essen, so they are pretty busy right now. I guess thats why noone answered until yet.

Thanks Porly, I thought that would trigger a response from someone!

I'll give that a go and see how I get on.

I wish I could have been at INTERGEO myself... perhaps next year??  Hope you enjoyed it.

Hello airmap3d,

Disabled cameras (providing that they are aligned) are used in the same way as enabled ones during optimization. So if you want to exclude the use of camera coordinates from optimization process you should uncheck such cameras in the Ground Control pane. And to remove the camera completely you need to reset camera alignment.

K4 - is a radial distortion coefficient and could be used in case of wide lens used. For common lens it's not required to adjust this parameter.
