Can’t write licence file for metashape pro in Linux
« on: May 11, 2024, 11:49:42 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am new to using Agisoft metashape pro and am wanting to use the 30 free trial. I am using it on Linux, Ubuntu 20. I get this error when I try to activate the trial: Can’t write licence file. Please make sure that you have write access to Var/lib/tmp/agisoft/licensing/licences folder.

I have seen similar problems to this; however, they are for windows os and say to move the metashape folder to the applications folder, which I don’t seem to have in Linux. Also I checked in the tmp folder and there is no Agisoft folder. I also gave the licences folder in the metashape folder write authority already. Any suggestions for how to fix this would be much appreciated thanks!

Dan

Hello Dan,

What version of Metashape Pro you are using and whether AGISOFT_LICENSE_PATH or AGISOFT_LICENSE_DIR environment variables are defined on your system?

Hi Alexey,

Thanks for your answer. I just downloaded the most recent version of metashape pro. So it is version 2.1.1.17821.

With regards to your second question, I was not exactly sure how to check that but I tried echo $AGISOFT_LICENSE_PATH  and the same for the other veriable. This gave me nothing, so I assume they are not defined then. I did this from the root directory (/).

Thanks,

Dan

Hello Dan,

In Metashape 2.1, by default the auxiliary information, including the license file is being written to /var/tmp/agisoft/licensing/ location. If there any problem accessing this folder by the current user, you can specify a new location via AGISOFT_LICENSE_DIR defined globally and then try to reactivate the license.
