I am writing to seek your expertise regarding a persistent issue I am encountering with building edges distortion and artifacts in my orthomosaic outputs. Despite meticulously following the steps outlined in the manual and utilizing the gradual tool for tie point filtering, the problem remains unresolved.

I have attached several images for your reference, illustrating the distortion and artifacts I am experiencing. In addition to adhering to the manual, I have explored and implemented various methods and workflows suggested in the forums related to this issue, yet the distortion persists.

This problem is critical as it impedes my ability to deliver projects on time.

Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,

to avoid such artefacts in a True orto you would need to add break line on building edges which manually would be time consuming... You can look into automatic extraction of break lines in some GIS packages...

Or maybe a feature that Agisoft could implement? ;)

Looks like not enough overlap or poor calibration and or low quality processing

I have good overlap of 80-70%, Image quality is good & I have only considered images with 0.6 or above rating for processing, also no blur images. Calibration was good as well. Also same I tried to process with Pix4D and edges were smooth. And this is with almost all the data sets I have processed. Am I missing anything?

Hey Paulo thanks for your quick response. Can you suggest any post or tutorial on adding break line on building edges manually? Also can you suggest GIS packages for automatic extraction of break lines.

Hello Andy,

you can have a look at following tutorial https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000164388-dem-editing-tools#Create-Breakline, Create Break line section.

As for GIS software maybe have a look at QGis, ArcGis or Global mapper....

Dear Paulo,

Tried this this but no success, edges are looking different after creating breadline. Please check attached two images.

Is there any way we can resolve this problem of building edges artefacts in Agisoft Metashape?

Bello Andy,

did you draw/create the break lines correctly? If so, you should not see building lean in 2nd attachment. The break lines are drawn on the DSM and should improve the appearance of your ortho building edges...

Hello Andy,

without breaklines, you can still get good edges with good quality images at high resolution.

Check following ortho flown t 1 cm GSD with its corresponding DSM (4 cm res.)....
