I do not seem to figure it out
« on: October 02, 2024, 01:05:30 PM »
Hi all,

I had been a user for metshape since 2019. but I am finally experimenting the extra software and expanding y horizon.

I intend to experiment with the cloud but I do not seem to have any luck with it

let us try to look into one example together:
1- imported photos in software and ran alignment
2- upload model to cloud from file>cloud>upload
3- then choose to do point cloud from workflow>point cloud
4- agrees to cloud process
5- cloud process finish
6- point cloud shows in thumbnail in web but open in black screen
7- point cloud size nearly 5 GB on cloud

please advise

Hello majou,

How the point cloud looks like in local Metashape project synchronized with the Cloud data?

Is the project georeferenced properly?

Hi Alexy

thank you for your prompt reply

the point cloud is geo referenced. I am able to view it only in local software. it is not viewable on the web viewer. attached a photo for your refrence.
I have additionally process a textured mesh and uploaded same as well. but not able to view anything

actually this is important for me. my main goal is to be able to upload the 3D models , not particularly the points clouds, because I want to share the models view\compare features with my clients. please advice.

Hi again, email sent.

but also I am seeing changes happening on the viewer finally. perhaps the result is not immediate and actually takes time to reflect and be viewable. but how is a one model taking me the whole day to have it online?

attached image FYI

on another hand, please advise: how can I upload only models ? currently there is a possibility to upload only tiled models, why I can not upload other formats for mesh models like the local viewer does?

Hello majou,

For uploading you can create a project copy and leave only required assets there, such as dense point cloud, for example, and tiled model. Other assets, including the aligned cameras, can be removed from the project copy prepared for the publication.

We do not recommend to upload models with more that 1M faces and high resolution texture to online viewer - instead use Tiled model.

Publication may take some time depending on the variety and size of the assets, so it is better to wait till you get the notification that the publication is completed.
