Gaps in Data
« on: November 01, 2024, 05:06:32 PM »
Does anyone know what would cause this to happen? I have never had so many issues with a dataset in my life. There are a couple of large uniform holes in the point cloud.

I think you might have to do some additional investigating, starting with relevant image alignment. Providing some additional information might let someone more experienced/knowledgable than myself weigh in.

I'd start by...
  • Clarifying whether your snapshots are showing tie points or a photogrammetry-generated point cloud
  • Reviewing photos relevant to that area. Depending on your dataset, you may need to select cameras manually from within the 3D space, select nearby points + right-click + filter photos by points, etc. Is it correct to assume that you have aligned nadir images of this area?
  • Assuming that there aren't any masking issues, I'd then start checking the image alignment and tie points for relevant images.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, that does help! These gaps are where the guy had two separate overlapping flights with his drone. There is plenty of overlap but there is something weird going on between the two flight lines. The sparse cloud is there but it is pretty light in this area.

As a preliminary test, I might place markers on a few photos at the blank area in question. Once that's complete, I'd turn on the marker display in the model UI. If the markers show in the correct (blank) location, then you know it's something more than just photo alignment issues.

maybe too much overlap and to much tiepoint cleanup, can you check if this area has depthmaps or if they are missing?

Depth Maps were generated, is there a way to toggle a visual of them on?

Markers are visible in the blank location...
