GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 Go any good for Metashape Pro

Hello,

I m planning to buy a new GPU card and I was looking for the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Evo OC Edition 16 Go GDDR6 that has a good price right now for me. I m looking for a card around that price but I like to know or be sure if this card is a good way for Metashape Pro. Currently I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER with 6 Go and I d like to upgrade it.

Hi, RTX 4060ti 16GB is good option or better Radeon RX 7800 XT in that price tag.

Thank you for answering. And also for the recommendation. I m more looking for an nvidia card than an Amd card, so if someone is using this model or maybe the 4070 ti I d like to hear about it, it would be nice to have feedbacks about those cards as I suppose I’m not the only one thinking or planing about these setups.

The overall GPU performance in Metashape depends also on used CPU, how much worker threads are used in local network processing, how big is the dataset and how many Mpix photos are processed.
More performant CPU can better feed the GPU when it needs that.

RTX 4070 Ti has 12GB VRAM, so it would be better 4070 TI super variant with 16GB or stay with 4060 TI 16GB, which will be nice boost for processing in comparisson old 1060 super. 16GB VRAM is usefull for texture building task.

Thank you for your time and details, I didn t have to much time to sit down front the computer, check the specs and answer.

Actually I m using two mavic3, a normal one and a multispectral one, so the main camera of both have a 20mpx sensor, and the number of frames depends of the drone. If I flight with the normal one it could from 300 to 700 photos and if I do a multispectral flight it could go from 900 to 2000, depends of the field, as multispectral multiplies x4 each shot.

The CPU I use have some years, its a I7-9700K 3.6Hz.

Thinking about the future, I m planning to get finally the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER OC Edition 16GB as I believe it s a good choice to be sure I have a good card for some years, what s your opinion?

Hope the threat can help some other people that have doubts of witch could be a nice, good price GPU card.

Your CPU is missing HyperThreading, which is giving +30% performance, so if you spawn several local workers to fully saturate GPU without seeing drops in utilization, then your CPU could be not fully able to keep GPU depth maps processing tempo and 4060TI would be better choice now. For the future definitely 4070ti super.
