Access node locked license from docker container
« on: November 29, 2024, 02:55:40 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to access a node locked license from inside a docker container, present in the same machine where the node locked license resides.
Does anyone know how I can do that and if that is possible at all?

Thanks!
Best regards,
Benjamim Oliveira

Hello Benjamin,

You need to deactivate the license on the physical machine, then start the docker and activate the license using the same key inside the docker itself. Then do not forget to deactivate the license before terminating the docker.

Hi again Alexey,

That solution, for us, is very limiting. If the container for some reason crashes, or if the machine gets shutdown, we would be losing our license, It seems like a risky approach.
Do you know if there's any other solution for cases like this?

Once again,
Thank you!!

Hello Benjamim,

You may consider using floating license instead. In such case the license is activated on the license server machine and your dockers will just connect to the license server (in local network or via Internet) to receive the license when Metashape process is started and return it automatically, when Metashape process or docker itself are terminated.

You can contact support@agisoft.com for a temporary floating license to try it and check applicability and convenience in this specific case.
