Issue Converting Coordinates
«
on:
December 15, 2024, 09:59:05 AM »
I have flown an area and collected about 1400 images.
When I upload to Metashape and try to convert the coordinate system from WGS to UTMs, the whole dataset shifts about 20° to the East.
Does anyone know the solution for this?
I'm using a Mavic 3 Enterprise for mapping.
Thanks in advance!

Hello FrostBite,
Can you provide coordinates for a few camera locations and target UTM zone that you are using?

Hello Alexey, thanks for the response!
Camera #1 = -121.550338, 52.993864
Camera #2 = -121.549865, 52.993860
I tried converting to Nad83, UTM Zone 10, with two different systems, EPSG::3979 AND 3348.
Thanks for the help!

Hello FrostBite,
I have tried to convert these coordinates in Metashape to EPSG::3979 and EPSG::3348 and the location of the points on the basemap does not change.
Do you observe any shift, if camera coordinates are transformed before running the alignment?

Yes I noticed the shift before the alignment.
I left the coordinates with WGS and imported the Ortho as a TIF file into QGIS for mapping. The first thing I noticed there was that the Ortho was stretched on the X axis. And when I changed coordinate system from WGS to UTMs, it gave me the same problem as before. It would tilt the whole "world" by about 40° to the East.
Thanks for the help Alexey. Much appreciated!

Hello FrostBite,
Would it be then possible to send to support@agisoft.com the following data:
- Metashape project in PSZ format with two chunks - original coordinates and converted coordinates,
- low resolution export (like 0.5m/pix) for orthomosaics obtained in WGS84 coordinates and in projected coordinate system?
