This might be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find the answer on how to do this in the 3d model with the neighboring texture filling in.

Is there really no way of doing this? Anyone know of a good way to do it in 3ds Max?

select the car and a margin around, delete, then use fill holes. I really dont like the fill holes tool, because it produces a closure with ugly large triangles and it is not sensible to context, but kinda works, and you can later use smooth tool.
I would suggest to have a look of Virtual-Surveyor, it does much much better and just with one click,
