Metashape Pro V 2.1.2 build 18358

I am having an issue getting Metashape to use the AUSgeoid09 downloaded from https://www.agisoft.com/downloads/geoids/

I start metashape with windows local admin rights.

I go into Reference settings, select the coord system I want from the drop down.

I get the error " Selected vertical datum is unavailable. Please configure datum transformation."

I go into Datum Transformation Parameters and from the Geoid height dropdown I select "add", then browse to C:\Program Files\Agisoft\Metashape Pro\geoids\au_ga_AUSGeoid09_V1.01.tif

Import Geoid dialog appears with the option to install for current user / all users (same result with both)

I click OK.

it goes back to the Datum Transformation Parameters dialog, but the Geoid Height field remains unpopulated / blank.

Clicking Ok, then OK to the Reference Settings dialogs gives the error "Unsupported vertical datum"

Each time I select add, and browse to a geoif.tiff, it makes another copy of the tiff in C:\Program Files\Agisoft\Metashape Pro\geoids\

Any ideas?

Hello Braeden,

if you have the correct geoid file in your Agisoft geoids folder. It should work. I used following:

- in Reference settings, Select Coordinate system, find the cs you require i.e. GDA94 /MGA zone 55
- with edit button, change its name and in Vertical Coordinate System drop down, choose AHD height
- ok and this CS should work with corresponding geoid.

This should work...see attached screen copy

Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, doing this gives the same error once I select the Vertical CS, click OK, then OK and get back to the Reference settings dialog.

"Selected vertical datum is unavailable. Please configure datum transformation."

I can see agisoft successfully copies the geoid into the C:\Program Files\Agisoft\Metashape Pro\geoids\ folder. I can open them outside of agisoft from there, but agisoft doesnt seem to be able to point to them?

Braeden,

this is strange... If you select Tools/Geoids..., you should see all the geoids loaded...

check if the AusGeoid9 is in the list with the description GDA94 to AHD...

see attachment... As long as your crs is defined as GDA94 with Vertical CS AHD. it will select the corresponding geoid in the list.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your suggestion again. The issue was resolved having IT grant our users full control over the Agisoft folder and its subfolders, both in Program files and Program Data.

It seems starting agisoft as the local admin user by right clicking and Run as Admin was insufficient, despite granting write access to the geoid folder.

PS My tools menu does not have a Geoid option, nor can I see it in any of the dialog windows?

I see,

For the geoids option in tools, I think it is a recent addition to version 2.2....

This has always been needed, start Metashape as Admin while adding the GEOid into the folder.
