Exporting features (tiepoints) descriptors
« on: July 11, 2024, 05:43:03 PM »
Hi all,

I need to export the features of the tie-points constituting the 3D Sparse Point Cloud, but I couldn't find a way to do so. With "features" I mean the information detected by a similar-to-SIFT algorithm during the search for keypoints in the original images.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks and have a great one! ☀️

Hi,
I came across this thread because I am working on monitoring applications with photogrammetric datasets.
I was thinking of using tie-points (rather than cloud-to-cloud comparison) to track the motion of specific points over epochs. To do that I need to identify the same tiepoint over different epochs, and therefore I aim to identify them using the same information detected during the " detecting and matching " phases of the alignment step.
Has anyone adopted a similar approach?
Is there a script that could be used to export this information from the metashape project?

Cheers
Paolo

Hello!

At the moment there is no access to the feature points descriptors in Metashape and therefore export and import operations for the feature points are not supported.

Tie points, however, can be exported, for example, in a form of 2D projections on the aligned images.
